I forgot one of my favorite pictures. We walked along the path for a while and got this really sweet couple to take our picture. One of my favorite things is talking to the people from England and everyone so far has been so nice! He was more than happy to take this picture and asked us all about what we're up to. Apparently we are living in the St. Hughes college region (which is part of University of Oxford) which is what Megan told the man that took the picture. This picture is taken in front of a huge meadow that again is in front of Christ's Church. This was along the beautiful path we were walking.
This is a picture of what we were walking beside and the river that people were "punting" on! There was a duck picture but there are those in the US and so it was probably not as impressive. I still have the picture however and am open to suggestions. I mean its not like you haven't seen a river with trees before right? Oh well.
This hotel is called "The Randolphe" I am equating it to our version of The Hilton, except all cool and old, Oxford style of course. That was really the only reason for this picture.
For those of you wishing my food to be more "authentic" this is an attempt. This food is from Ali's, a van that sells kabobs and hamburgers. We got here early because we heard it was good and there was a man ahead of us who said he came a lot. So I started talking to him and found out he worked in Oxford but lived in London. I asked him what he got
so I would know what to order. He was getting the "doner
kabob" which apparently means lamb. I thought he was saying donut at
first and I just thought it was a unique kind of food they offered. So that was amusing. We talked for a little bit and when I said he was from Texas he said "oh, so Austin?" I definitely did not claim that, and I told him Abilene. He knew where it was! Okay not really, I'm pretty sure he only knows about Austin. Anyways, on this one I could be overly impressed because I had plane food for two meals, a sandwich and bland soup for my prior meals to this but it was D-licious. It was not what I would've thought a kabob would be because it was more like a england burrito. Lamb meat kind of tastes like chicken, which is a cliche term but still kind of like chicken but better. It had flat bread, lamb meat, vegetables, fries and garlic sauce. Oh and it was very cheap, so that much more impressed. Okay done with the long commentary for this blog. Trying to be more descriptive but not overwhelming.
